As Japanese Americans left the World War II internment camps, many people migrated to the Midwest, and a large Japanese American community gathered in Chicago. During the early postwar years, the Chicago Resetters’ Committee assisted and helped resettle Japanese Americans into Chicago. The committee sought to reflect the new community with a representational leadership, and through its welfare services, it demonstrated its commitment to the community.
