Dr. Glenda Mayo is an assistant professor at UNC Charlotte in the Engineering Technology and Construction Management Department. She received her Ph.D. in Building Construction from the University of Florida in 2014. She specializes in areas of facilities management documentation (building information modeling and 3D scanning) with a research focus on the management practices in the later phases of a construction project (owner needs), and solutions for the data deliverables provided to the owner. Prior to academia, her experience included a position as Assistant Director of Facilities. As an owner’s representative within the Architectural and Facilities Management department as well as previous experiences in both public and private sectors in the building construction industry, she has accumulated experience in all phases of construction. Two of the positions included responsibilities for the implementation of the Department of State’s (Florida) Art in State Buildings program. Dr. Mayo has contributed to the NCDOT research in areas of asset management and long-term asset guidance. She has also served on the committee to establish the first American National Standard (ANS) for Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): APPA 1000-1 – Total Cost of Ownership for Facilities Asset Management (TCO) – Part 1: Key Principles. Overall, her research has contributed to 23 publications and 4 formal reports, including two for the transportation industry.
